The 18th Ink Cover Photo Contest Entry Start!

Thanks to all, “att.JAPAN,” a free magazine for foreigners, is approaching its 20th year since the publication of the issue of the first edition of the magazine in 2000.
To thank all of you for your long-term support, we will hold the 18th Ink Cover Contest! We will be waiting for your application.
The winning entry will be ink painted by a professional ink illustrator and that picture will be used as the cover of “att.JAPAN!”
Moreover, the winner will also be given a free pair of tickets for a traditional Japanese hotel, Ryokan!

Application Outline

Themes of the Contest
(1) Snow season
(2) Kotatsu
(3) Tokyo: Shibuya
(4) Shirabu Onsen Hot Springs (Yamagata Pref.)
(5) Scenery in Japan that You Would Like to Introduce Overseas

You can photograph anything, from views to people, plants and animals.
Application will not be accepted for works that have ignored others’ portrait rights or copyrights. Please get permission by yourself beforehand if necessary.
Arranged photos will not be accepted (one photo only).
Can be in color or in black and white.
Can be taken by anything (smartphones and cell phones are allowed too).
One application per person.

Can be a resident of Japan or from outside Japan.

Due Date
October 15, 2019 at noon on Tuesday

Results
The winners of the best performance prize and the outstanding performance prize will be notified around late-July by “att.JAPAN” editorial staff.
The former will be announced in “att.JAPAN” 90th issue (published on Dec. 10, 2019) and the latter will be announced on the official website of “att.JAPAN” (https://att-japan.net/) on Dec. 10, 2019.

Prizes
The Best Performance Prize (1 person)
The ink painting featuring the work of the grand prize winner will become the cover of “att.JAPAN” 90th issue.
Extra prize: A pair of accommodation tickets for Ryokan (1 night 2 days with 2 meals, term of validity)
*The Ryokan will be determined after the winner is notified.

att.JAPAN cover contest
*If the winner lives outside Japan and has no plan of visiting Japan before the expiration date, the prize will be an Apple Store Gift Card or something similar. It will be determined after the winner is notified.

The Outstanding Performance Prizes (2 to 3 persons)
The works will be shown on the official website of “att.JAPAN” (https://att-japan.net/).
Extra Prize:
(1) Japanese stationery (e.g. letter set)
(2) An assortment of Japanese confectioneries

Note

The works of the winners will be used for free on the Internet and SNSs for promotion of exhibitions and posters. All the rights, including showing the title and the photographer of the work, trimming the work and so on, will be at the organizers’ hands. They also have all the rights to use the ink painting chosen as the work of the best performance prize and used for the cover feature.
The personal information submitted in the application will be used only as necessary when managing this contest, such as announcing and sending the prizes.

Future Events

We are planning to hold the Ink Cover Contests in the future too. We are waiting for photos with the theme “Scenery in Japan that You Would Like to Introduce to Foreign Countries” in addition to themes related to feature articles of each issue!
We will be announcing the details on this website.
