Thank you for coming back!

I should say “Happy New Era!” I wish all of you a great year of the 1s t year of Reiwa. Yes, it is a new era. I thought for sure I would spend a meaningful time at the beginning of the new era; however, during the super Golden Week, which started during the old era and ended in the new era, I just spent time just like any other holidays (which means I just stayed at my family home and the neighborhood). Noooo! Yet, during my less-than-eventful holidays, I had a great time at the National Museum of Western Art in Ueno. I went there by bicycle and felt highly fulfilled. I went to see a special exhibition, Le Corbusier and the Age of Purism (ended on May 19), which was totally wonderful. What I really loved was the permanent exhibition of the museum collection. I was overwhelmed by “Water Lilies” by Monet, impressed by the “Three Dancers in the Wings” by Degas, and had crush on the “Woman with a Hat” by Renoir. I didn’t know there were so many wonderful paintings in the permanent exhibition, so it was a great surprise for me. I am sure that I will go back there soon. The Ueno Museum Week will end on May 19, and May 18 will be the free admission day for the permanent exhibition (and other museums), which is a perfect day for me to go back again! Even though the era has changed, I’ll probably continue to love hanging around the Kanda area.
