[Editor’s Blog] COREDO Muromachi Terrace opens in Nihonbashi – where tradition meets the new future – on September 27
As a newcomer in the editorial department, I went to COREDO Muromachi Terrace in Nihonbashi yesterday before its grand opening on September 27. Nihonbashi is a traditional and historical city, from which the Gokaido roads (‘Five Highways’) had started to facilitate travel across Japan in the olden days.
In the COREDO Muromachi Terrace, a total of 30 stores challenge the ‘new’, with two stores opening for the first time in Japan and another five in Kanto area, as well as 20 stores opening in a kind of shopping plaza or a new business category, also for the first time.
Seihin Seikatsu Nihonbashi
It is the store’s first branch in Japan. It originally started in Taiwan and has been recently gathering attention in many countries. It sells books, stationaries and selected items for discerning buyers. The most fun features are the different workshops the store manages, such as in jewelry making, dyeing tenugui (Japanese facecloth), glassblowing and so on!
KO-BA JUKKA TEN
This store focuses on craft artisans and the factories where they made their own brand of clothing, food, and housing. It is located in one part of Seihin Seikatsu Nihonbashi area. In this store, what I enjoyed most was that I pedaled a bike type of machine for about 5 minutes and knitted a sock! I was surprised at how quickly the bike machine knitted the sock!
How cozy this store is! You can drink specialty coffee while taking a look at the store’s ceiling and tables, on which passages and proverbs from books of famous authors are engraved. This put me in a relaxed mood, and I was truly impressed!
CRISP SALAD WORKS
You can customize your own salad by choosing from 30 kinds of toppings. The staff chops and mixes your salad in front of you, and the serving is big enough to satisfy your stomach like having a main dish!
This store opens in a shopping plaza for the first time. For the store’s steamed hot pot, a satsuma-age (deep-fried ball of fish paste) is added to a mix of other healthy vegetables and meat.
More details for each store are coming soon!
