Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
With a history of more than 1,300 years, Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of 30,000 inari shrines all over Japan. It is also famous for its Sembon Torii gates painted in bright red.

Surrounded by the mountains and ornamented with seasonal colors, this area of scenic beauty has appeared in literature since early times. It attracts many visitors especially during the season of autumn foliage.

Kobe Kitano Ijinkan-gai

Encompassing Kobe Port which opened in 1868, Kobe still retains Western-style buildings in the Kitano district that were built for foreign residents in former days. Walk around and feel an exotic atmosphere there.

Mount Rokko


Mount Rokko is located only a bit away from the center of the city. Especially, its night view is so beautiful that it is called the “10 million-dollar night view.”

Nara Park

In Nara City, there are still a large number of Japanese deer, which have been cherished as “messengers from the gods” since ancient times. At Nara Park, you can come close to them by feeding them with deer biscuits.

Todai-ji Temple

Nara prospered as the capital city of Japan for 80 years from the early 8th century. The Great Buddha at Todai-ji Temple, which was completed in 752, is still watching over people.

Nachi no Taki Waterfalls

Nachi no Taki Waterfalls

These beautiful waterfalls have the greatest drop (133 meters) in Japan. The waterfalls themselves have been worshipped as goshintai, in which divine spirits are believed to reside.

Kumano Sanzan (Three Shrines of Kumano)

Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha, and Kumano Nachi Taisha are collectively called “Kumano Sanzan.” It is said to bring you good fortune if you visit these three places in a row. Kumano Kodo is a series of routes that people have taken to visit these three shrines since ancient times.

Adventure World

This theme park, which combines a zoo, aquarium, and amusement park, is a popular place in the Nanki Shirahama area, where you can see about 1,400 animals of 140 species from the land, ocean, and sky. There are six pandas, and the youngest one, Saihin, is an idol of the park.

This long beach stretching about 3.6 km is a famous scenic spot that has been attracting people since ancient times – so much so that it appeared as a bridge to connect heaven and earth, which the gods created in a myth. You can rent a bicycle to ride through the area.

Located on the other side of Amanohashidate Sta., this shrine has a long history. Some gods of Ise Jingu Shrine are said to have dwelled in this land before their later enshrinement in Ise Jingu.

At Ine Bay facing the Japan Sea, houses called funaya stand along the coast side by side. They look like they are floating on the ocean, creating a unique view for a fishery town.
