WINTER WONDERLAND in MOOMINVALLEY PARK, MOOMINVALLEY PARK’s First Winter!
Magazine
Moominvalley Park, which opened this March in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture, is celebrating its first WINTER WONDERLAND in MOOMINVALLEY PARK. Scenes from the book, “Moominland
Midwinter,” come alive as you walk through the park.
One of our att.JAPAN staff members shares the sights and sounds of her recent visit with emphasis on the evening illumination.
To get there by rail, your closest stop will be the Hanno Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, a
40-minute ride on the Red Arrow Express from Ikebukuro Station.
The excitement began the moment I stepped off the train and spotted the Moomintrolls.
A 13-minute bus ride from the north exit of Hanno Station brought me to Metsä Village. Beyond
that lies the entrance to Moominvalley Park.
So first, a brisk walk along a street dressed in lights.
Then, after admiring the twilight on Lake Miyazawa-ko and the illuminated autumn foliage…
I arrived at Moominvalley Park!
I walked through the giant book gates and posed for photos with the Moomins.
WINTER WONDERLAND in MOOMINVALLEY PARK — A nighttime enchantment of light fantasies
1.The Path of Footprints
Footprints of the Moomin friends glow under the moonlit sky.
2.Moominvalley’s Winter “Tree of Orchestra”
A fun tree, decorated eagerly, if a bit clumsily, by the Moomins who have no idea of what a trimmed tree looks like, this being their first winter.
Scamper around this interactive tree with magical light and sound, and make some music!
3.Moominhouse Projection Mapping
Watch the hi-tech presentation while listening to Moomintroll, who accidentally wakes up while the rest of his family is still in their winter slumber.
6:30, 7:00, 7:30 pm (approximately 10 minutes each)
The mesmerizing aurora is a must-see.
4.The Ambiguous Road (of Snow and Ice)
5.Glowing Flower Road
A section of the Lonely Mountain, closed off at night until now, glows with fantasy.
6.Snowball Theater
Shadow pictures depict a lively Moomin tale at Snowball Theater located on top of Lonely Mountain.
