Hokkaido Bran Bakery’s Long-tailed Tit Doughnut

Dubbed the “snow fairy,” the long-tailed tit is a bird that, in Japan, can only be found in Hokkaido. At the Bran Bakery, they’re perched adorably atop doughnuts resembling nests and snow-blanketed mountains. They’re sure to put a smile on your face, and not just because the Hokkaido bran doughnuts offer such a comforting flavor.

Fumido’s Sweet Chestnut Bear Monaka

Stuffed between the crisp monaka wafers is a sweet chestnut paste. The best way to eat it is oshiruko (sweet red-bean soup)-style, and the sight of Mr. Bear soaking in a bath of chestnut paste will warm the coldest of hearts. If you visit Fumido’s Saku-G Cafe, you might even see him relaxing on top of a parfait.
