ReleaseDecember 10, 2018

On November 9th, a new park called the “metsa village” has opened in Hanno, Saitama Prefecture.
The word “metsa” means “forest” in Finland and as you can tell from the word, this facility offers the Northern Europe lifestyles where you can relax by taking a stroll around the park.
When you enter the park, the first thing you see is the big lake called Miyazawa Lake. At the lake, you can ride a canoe and go around the lake feeling the breeze from the forest.
Inside the facility, they have cafes and shops related to Northern Europe but also including local ingredients from the city. They also have crafts and workshops that you can enjoy with your friends and family.
Making a canoe is one of the workshops here in which you can come any time and continue making it.
Even if you are in Japan, you will feel like you have traveled to Northern Europe. As you can tell by the pictures, the concept of this facility is to have people come and spend a slow leisure time.
In March 16, 2019, metsa village will be complete with the opening of MOOMIN VALLEY Park. The theme park offers more activity-based playground and making it a fun place for people to enjoy the Northern Europe lifestyle.
From December 1st, TeamLab has collaborated with metsa village and they transformed Miyazawa Lake and the forest into an interactive digital art space.
The concept of this project is that non-material digital art can turn nature into art without harming it.
