Kami-Suwa Sta. → 30 min walk諏訪湖If You Want to Get a Nice View of Lake SuwaWe recommend visiting Tateishi Park, which sits on a hilltop. From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the lake, and on clear days, even catch a glimpse of the Northern Alps (Hida Mountains). It is said that the area was used as a set-ting for Japan’s hit anime movie, “Your Name.” Especially, the sky and the sur-face of the lake beautifully colored with yellowish-red at dusk create a striking view, which may remind you of the famous scene of the movie. On the way to Tateishi Park from Kami-Suwa Station, you can take a little detour to visit Onsenji Temple. The maple leaves on the grounds turn vivid colors from late October to early November every year. The night illumina-tion of the leaves creates a mesmerizing view. There is a special time-limited edition of “goshuin” stamps only available during the autumn foliage season.諏訪大社Serving as a grand head shrine of about 10,000 Suwa Shrines nation-wide in Japan, Suwa Taisha Shrine has long been worshipped as a guard-ian deity of wind and water in charge of bountiful harvests. The shrine consists of four shrine complexes, including the Kamisha Upper Shrine (comprising the Maemiya and Honmiya shrines) located on the south-ern shore of Lake Suwa, and the Shimosha Lower Shrine (comprising the Harumiya and Akimiya shrines) on the northern shore of the lake. Many people come to this shrine for a tour to collect goshuin stamps and oma-mori good-luck charms from all of the four shrine groups. Walking in the mystical atmosphere of the area will make you feel as if you are purified by clear air mentally and physically. If you access by public transporta-tion, it takes about 20 minutes on foot to get to Shimosha from Shimo-Suwa Station, and about one hour by bus to Kamisha from Kami-Suwa Station. However, since the number of buses running in the route is very limited, it is recommended to use a rental car or taxi.If You Want to Experience a Physical Activity“Suwako Duck Tour” using an amphibious bus offers an exciting ex-perience of running on the land and then directly splashing into the water!
