A few minutes on foot south from Shijo Kawaramachi in Kyoto, an area, which has been under redevelopment and is drawing much attention among Kyoto lovers, now has “Fauchon Hotel Kyoto,” Japan’s first and the world’s second hotel bearing the name of Fauchon brand, which opened on March 16 (Tue), 2021!

Although the basic tones of the guestrooms are Fauchon pink, gold, black, and white, which are the standard colors of Fauchon Paris, they are decorated here and there with creations of Kyoto’s artisan’s expertise, such as curtains and fabrics made with Nishijin-ori textiles, and lampshades made with bamboo from Arashiyama, creating a space where you can feel the fusion of Paris and Kyoto.
Each guestroom has a gourmet bar with a design based on pink and black, the Fauchon colors. Not only Fauchon tea but also original baked goods, which go well with the tea, as well as caramels are available for free. (It is okay to take them back home as souvenirs from your trip!)
The bathrobes and slippers have the same design as those in Paris, but the pajamas are designed exclusively for Fauchon Hotel Kyoto. The soft and comfortable pajamas are only available at this hotel.
Located on the top (10th) floor of the hotel, “Restaurant Grand Café Fauchon” serves Fauchon signature dishes, only available in Paris and Kyoto, as well as green tea only available at Fauchon Hotel Kyoto.
The restaurant not only recreates the dishes of the hotel in Paris but also uses dinnerware carefully selected by the executive chef in Paris based on the criteria of Fauchon Paris. The dishes are made with local ingredients from Kyoto. The superior offerings created under the theme of the hotel “ FAUCHON meets Kyoto. Feel Paris” gratify the guests.
