Explore Chiba City! The setting of “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU”

The TV anime series “My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU,” also known as “Oregairu,” is the anime adaptation of Wataru Watari’s light novel (Shogakukan). The romantic comedy follows the life of a cynical high school student. Setting the stage for the series are various locations throughout Chiba City, a city also included among the “Top 88 anime pilgrimage sites to visit in Japan.”

Also appearing in this anime is the Chiba Urban Monorail, the symbol of Chiba City. There is even a “wrapping train,” decked out in “Oregairu” graphics, now in operation along the monorail (slated to run through March 2022).

Inside this train are photographs of scenes from the anime and original train announcements by the series’ two heroines. Original merchandise is also available at the monorail Chibaminato Station, Chiba Station, Tsuga Station, and Chishirodai Station.

Other popular, frequently depicted spots in the city, mainly in Mihama Ward, include “Inage Seaside Park,” “Inage no Hama” beach, and “Chiba Port Tower,” which appears in the fireworks festival episode, as well as the areas around Chiba Station and Kaihin-Makuhari.
