(2) Kasori Shell Mounds Site Museum

Shell mounds are archaeological sites formed by layers of ancient shells, offering insight into the lives of people during the Jomon period around 3,000 to 5,000 years ago. There are said to be about 2,400 such sites across Japan, with around 120 concentrated in Chiba City. Among them, the Kasori Shell Mounds are one of the largest in Japan and are designated as a Special Historic Site of Japan.
