Nestled in the western Tokyo city of Hachioji, “Hinadoriyama” is a charming, traditional-style restaurant specializing in irori (hearth) grilling. What makes this place truly unique is its ingenious style of serving dishes by boat directly to private dining rooms. Architecture and Grounds
Your visit begins with a warm welcome at the magnificent Shofukumon gate.
Beyond the gate lies a serene space reminiscent of a Japanese garden. The property extends further into a tranquil oasis of traditional Japanese aesthetics.
A rare sight awaits—a trio of waterwheels spinning in unison.
There’s even a small shrine and a waterfall on the grounds, with the soothing sound of flowing water.
All dining areas in the restaurant are private rooms, allowing you to relax in a cozy, intimate setting.
Once seated, staff will bring a charcoal brazier to your table for the authentic irori experience.
Dishes Delivered by Boat
Opening the inner window of your dining room reveals a small stream flowing past!
A miniature boat floats down this stream, delivering your meal right to your room.
When the food arrives, the gentle chirping of birds signals its arrival.
Hinadori Chicken
The star of the menu is their signature hinadori chicken, raised on a blend of five herbs. 
Carefully grilled over charcoal, the chicken locks in its natural juices, boasting crispy skin and tender, juicy meat.
Tofu Hot Pot
Another standout is the tofu hot pot, made with specially crafted tofu using select soybeans from Hokkaido and natural nigari (coagulant). The broth, a blend of homemade dashi and soy milk, is rich and velvety.
The restaurant offers six different course options, with a special kids’ menu available for children under elementary school age. Guests can also order additional dishes à la carte.
