Allure of the Route
The route offers breathtaking natural landscapes formed by the interplay of mountains and rivers. Along the line, you’ll also find areas rich in history and culture. Highlights include Seki City, famous for its cutlery and cormorant fishing, Mino City, the birthplace of Mino Washi, one of Japan’s three finest traditional handmade papers, and Gujo City, known for the 30-day-long Gujo Odori dance festival and the majestic castle tower of the Gujo Hachiman Castle, one of Japan’s famous “mountain castles.”
This reservation-only special train runs once daily, primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, connecting Mino-Ota Station and Gujo Hachiman Station with two cars: a dining car and a sightseeing car. The train slows down at scenic points, allowing passengers to take in the views at a relaxed pace.
Onboard, guests can savor gourmet meals prepared by local chefs, featuring seasonal delights from the mountains and rivers of the region, as well as delectable desserts.
The interior boasts abundant use of wood from Gifu Prefecture, along with high-quality materials like noren (curtains) from Gujo Hachiman and textiles from Ichinomiya. The design harmonizes a sense of warmth with a sophisticated local flair, creating a uniquely inviting space.
A dream collaboration of Nagaragawa Railway and Japan’s globally renowned food replicas has come to life! The train is adorned with masterfully crafted replicas by “Sample Village Iwasaki,” a store directly operated by the food replica manufacturer Iwasaki Mokei Seizo Co., Ltd. in Gujo City, turning it into a “traveling exhibition.” The train’s exterior features specially designed wrapping, adding a playful touch.
