Yokohama (Kanagawa Prefecture): GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA

Opening on December 19, 2020

A “moving Gundam” statue will appear for a limited time at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama! The life-size statue of the character from the popular anime “Mobile Suit Gundam” is 18 meters tall! It can be called the embodiment of the knowledge and technology of professionals from various fields, including researchers, engineers, and creators, amazing people even if they are not fans of the anime work. Various performances are scheduled every hour on the hour and at 30 minutes after the hour. From the special viewing space “GUNDAM-DOCK TOWER” (fee required), you can get a close view of the “moving Gundam.” There is also “GUNDAM-LAB,” a facility where you can learn about the mechanism of the moving Gundam, as well as a shop with various original goods and a cafe, all of which will allow you to enjoy to the full the world of “Mobile Suit Gundam”!

Entrance Fees (including tax): 1,650 yen for visitors above 13 years old; 1,100 yen for children from 7 to 12 years old

Nagoya (Aichi Prefecture): Nagoya TV Tower

Opened on September 18, 2020

Nagoya TV Tower, which has been Nagoya’s landmark for more than 60 years as well as a popular tourist spot, came back this year after a major renovation. The new TV tower has mirrors installed on the ceilings and floors of the observatory Sky Deck 90 meters above the ground, creating an unprecedented view with the reflected landscape in the mirrors.

In addition, inside the tower, “THE TOWER HOTEL NAGOYA” is located, the guestrooms of which have a carefully-selected modern interior design along with a great view looking down on a park. The park located at the bottom of the tower, Hisaya Odori Park, was also wholly redesigned to be “Hisaya-odori Park.” The old park was turned into a stylish space, where the nature of a spacious lawn square and waterfront and trendy shops and restaurants are fused together.

Shibuya (Tokyo): MIYASHITA PARK

Sequentially opening since July 28, 2020

A new landmark has appeared in Shibuya. It is a complex facility, which combines a park, a commercial facility, a hotel, and tenants that include those with the first launch in Japan and shops and restaurants attracting people’s attention with their new styles of business. Get something to go at a cafe and enjoy it at spacious Miyashita Park on the 4th floor of the facility. The park also has “Starbucks Miyashita Park” with a unique, stylish exterior design.

If you are a gourmet, you should check out “Shibuya Yokocho,” an unconventional food area where you can enjoy various local dishes from all over Japan at the same time.
