Outdoor Flea and antique Markets in Kyoto, Handmade Craft Fairs!

In Kyoto, a variety of fairs and markets, including handmade craft fairs, morning fairs, and antique markets, at temples, shrines, and parks every month. Here are two of them.

Hyakumanben-san No Tezukuri Ichi (Handmade Craft Fair at Hyakumanben)

A flea market held in the precincts of Chion-ji Temple of Hyakumanben, in front of Kyoto University, on the 15th of each month. Originated in 1987 as a place where amateur creators presented their handmade works, now about 450 shops sell their handmade foods, clothes, and other original goods. Selling goods that are not handmade is banned, which makes the fair unique and different from other flea markets.

Business hours the 15th of each month, rain or shine  8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Umekoji no Tezukuri Ichi (Handmade Craft Fair at Umekoji)

Tezukuri Ichi is also held at Umekoji Park, near Kyoto Aquarium and Kyoto Railway Museum, on the first Sat.
