Lake Sayama

Lake Sayama, an artificial lake completed in 1934, is next to Seibu Dome and offers nature including cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, and bird watching. Lake Sayama, Lake Tama, and the Sayama Hills surrounding the lakes are in abundant flora and fauna relatively close to Tokyo. The area is called “Totoro no Mori” (Totoro Woods) because it is said to be the setting for the famous anime film “My Neighbor Totoro” by Studio Ghibli.
