ANIME PLACES 2021

In Japan, a tour to visit places that appear in anime, so-called “Anime Tourism,” is now gaining a lot of popularity. It is also called “pilgrimage to sacred places.” This article will introduce the latest popular spots that are called “sacred places.”

Jujutsu Kaisen × Tokyo, Harajuku

“Jujutsu Kaisen” is a popluar manga series, where a high school student at a sorcerer school fights against an enemy, called “Jurei” (Cursed Spirit). The original series is now serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The anime television series started in October 2020, and both the original and anime series are among the latest popular series. For example, in the 3rd episode of the anime series, the main character, Yuji Itadori, his classmates, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki, and their teacher, Satoru Gojo, visit Harajuku. In the episode, the bustling city of Harajuku, including Takeshita-dori Street, is depicted, along with all the other interesting spots. If you pay attention to the background part of the anime, you will be more interested in the series.

The series is now being shown from 1:25 am every Saturday (that is, 25:25 every Friday night) in the “Super Animeism” block airing on the national network of 28 MBS/TBS-affiliated companies!

HYPNOSISMIC -Division Rap Battle- × Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Shibuya, and Shinjuku

HYPNOSISMIC is a multimedia project with 18 male voice actors, where the characters compete against each other through rap performances. With music unique to each character and audio drama with impressive narrative, the project has widely expanded to live performance, stage performance, game apps, and comics, and it was made into a TV anime series in October 2020. In the anime, teams based in four cities, including IKEBUKURO, SHIBUYA, SHINJUKU, and YOKOHAMA, battle with each other through rap performances. You should pay attention to the backgrounds, which are modelled on actual spots in the cities. In the original series, in addition to these four teams, two other teams, based in OSAKA and NAGOYA, joined and a total of six teams have fierce rap battles with each other. Yon cannot take your eyes off of the future development of this project!

If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die × Okayama

“If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die” is a heart-warming comedy, which depicts Okayama Prefecture’s minor idol group and an obsessive female fan. It was made into a TV anime series in 2020, and lots of main spots in Okayama City appeared in the show, including “Sha☆in Spile Hall,” a special facility dedicated only to local idols, which is a model for the stage in the series, Okayama Castle, Statue of Momotaro, Nishikawa Canal Park, Asahigawa Sakura-michi Road, Ikeda Zoo, Saijo Inari Temple, and Kibitsu-jinja Shrine.
