Biwako Valley
This ski resort, located at an elevation of 1,100 meters, operates from December to March. Enjoy skiing on quality slopes of natural and artificial snow while taking in views of Lake Biwa. The adjacent “Biwako Terrace” offers menus that utilize local ingredients, allowing those who don’t ski to enjoy the snowy scenery and meals.

Ukimido Floating Hall (Mangetsuji Temple)
This Buddhist “floating temple hall,” built nearly 1,000 years ago to pray for safe lake transportation, can be enjoyed from a distance. However, crossing the bridge to the back of the hall reveals a fantastical scene surrounded by snow and Lake Biwa.

NANASAN MIO

LAGO Otsu
On March 24, 2025, a new branch of “Taneya,” a traditional Japanese confectionery store that has been beloved for over 150 years in Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture, will open in Nagisa Park. Overlooking Lake Biwa, the new store offers a relaxing space where visitors can enjoy freshly baked castella and seasonal sweets, surrounded by water and nature.
