Hokkaido Bran Bakery’s Long-tailed Tit Doughnut
Dubbed the “snow fairy,” the long-tailed tit is a bird that, in Japan, can only be found in Hokkaido. At the Bran Bakery, they’re perched adorably atop doughnuts resembling nests and snow-blanketed mountains. They’re sure to put a smile on your face, and not just because the Hokkaido bran doughnuts offer such a comforting flavor.

Though shaped like a chick, at close inspection you’ll see that this charming cake boasts a pair of chocolate wings.
Cocooned inside Bavarian cream is pudding made from Nagoya Cochin eggs. On top of that, a powdery layer of fluffy sponge coats the entire exterior. You can find them at the JR Nagoya Station, and some stores offer eat-in spaces for hungry visitors.

Fumido’s Sweet Chestnut Bear Monaka
Stuffed between the crisp monaka wafers is a sweet chestnut paste. The best way to eat it is oshiruko (sweet red-bean soup)-style, and the sight of Mr. Bear soaking in a bath of chestnut paste will warm the coldest of hearts.
