Kashiwa Island

This island is surrounded by a surprisingly clear, beautiful ocean with a large-scale coral reef. There are about 1,000 kinds of fish, offering a popular spot for snorkeling and scuba diving (about 180 min by car from Kochi City).

Shimanto River Valley

Sometimes referred to as “the last clear stream in Japan,” the Shimanto River Valley is the longest river in Shikoku, with 319 tributaries, and is also known as a rare river without a large dam. The beautiful landscape with intact nature around the river is one of the must-visit places in Japan (about 120 min by car from Kochi City to Nakamura Sta.).

Shikoku Karst (Tengu-kogen Plateau)

One of the three biggest karsts in Japan, this area offers a grand panoramic view spreading about 25 km in an east-west direction. Take a walk on “Therapy Road,” which is paved with hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood chips (about 130 min by car from Kochi City).

In Kochi Prefecture, which has produced many famous manga artists, there are various events and places to enjoy manga and learn about its culture.

“Shin Kaiyodo Evangelion Figure Exhibition”

This exhibition will be held at Kaiyodo Hobby Museum Shimanto from March 7 to September 28, 2020.

Opening of Kochi Manga BASE in April
In April, 2020, a facility will open where you can freely read and create manga as well as enjoy taking commemorative photos with your favorite characters using an AR app.
